blog 7

I got this from the Oregonian Live, it's about the Rose Festival. It talks about how the Rose Festival has become more focused on the love everyone has for each other in Portland.
1. Why should I care? Because the city is right across the river. I go to Portland all the time and it's good to know the city is relatively safe. Found in the main story.
2. What kind of events do they have? They have plenty of events going on. They have musical acts, and they even have a knighting ceremony. There's even a festival of flowers with all kinds of flowers on display. It's some pretty cool stuff. Found in the facts box on the side of the story.

blog 3

This broadcast is about Obama refusing to take lobbyists money. They use quotes from Obama and McCain, but the Obama quotes are longer and more complete, and it has cheering fans in the background. Meanwhile with McCain they used a very short quote that didn't actually finish his thought.

blog 2: leads

One well written lead is in an article talking about people using mass transit in order to avoid the high gas prices. It starts by describing the transit stations are packed with people, then it goes into it's point about gas prices pushing more people to stop driving as much. It's more or a narrative lead.

There is another lead that isn't very good. The entire first paragraph is just one sentence, and there's a quote without actually quoting anyone. Also it's kind of boring.
